A B-17 Flying Fortress (!) just left Norman's Westheimer Field (OUN). My Facebook entry:
Just saw a B-17 (!) dressed in polished aluminum and U.S. Army Air Forces roundels take off from Westheimer Field (OUN) in Norman! My calendar reads 2011, not 1941. How 'bout yours?
In my back yard cleaning up shrub clippings, I heard a very unfamiliar aircraft noise--large, but obviously multiple reciprocating engines. I looked up, and there was the B-17, right-banked and turning, low, slow, and close enough almost to read its tail number. Guess the Confederate/Commemorative Air Force is on the loose again. What a sight!
