In the instrument panel picture above, that vertical knurled handle under the center of the instrument panel is the landing gear retraction handle. No fancy-shmancy electric gear on the mid-'60s Mooneys--you hauled the gear up and down with your right arm. (You could always distinguish the Mooney pilots by noticing who had bulging biceps on his/her right arm only!)

Oh, and just to the right of the knurled gear handle is the flap handle. The flaps are hydraulic. You PUMP 'em down, and activate a hydraulic switch to go back to no-flaps position. Simple and reliable it was, but things could get pretty busy during takeoff and landing! :^)
