The Broken Arrow (Okla.) Ledger reported yesterday that Oklahoma Representative Ron Peterson, one of the esteemed individuals who blocked the vote on Nick's Law, thereby denying insurance coverage for hundreds of Oklahoma's autistic children, will not seek re-election because, "... it has come to a point that I can't swing it anymore on the legislative salary of $38,400 alone ..." Perhaps he should try living on the $13 K/year salary of an adjunct college math/engineering instructor, instead.

No doubt Rep. Peterson will be richly rewarded by the insurance industry for bankrupting hundreds of Oklahoma parents who have an autistic child AND health insurance, while denying others any reasonable level of care at all. It may be that the insurance industry will not consider it immoral to deny care to ill children and bankrupt responsible parents. "Business ethics" is a true oxymoron in that industry.

I wish Rep. Peterson a long, productive life. He will need a very long time, indeed, and all the resources he can muster to explain his behavior to his Maker.
